St. Mary School’s 2nd grade held its second annual celebration of Día de los Muertos! The students learned about the rich traditions and cultural significance of this special holiday, which is an important celebration in Spanish-speaking cultures such as Mexico. As part of the celebration, students watched the movie Coco to learn more about this tradition and its themes of love, family, and remembrance. They also created their own ofrendas to honor and remember their loved ones who have passed away. Each student thoughtfully decorated their ofrenda with photos, drawings, and meaningful items that reflect the memories they cherish. The students’ creations are proudly displayed by the front office for everyone to view and celebrate together, showcasing their learning and the spirit of remembrance. The project was organized by teachers, Mrs. Kim Magallon and Mr. Tim Scoleri.
