In celebration of Earth Day, St. Mary Catholic Community School’s Environmental Club took their commitment to the planet beyond the classroom. On April 23rd, 25 enthusiastic students from grades 3 through 8 grabbed gloves, trash bags, and a healthy dose of civic pride to take part in a neighborhood clean-up.
The students spent the afternoon picking up litter and making their community a cleaner, greener place. This annual event is just one way the Environmental Club encourages environmental awareness and promotes active community involvement.
“This is more than just picking up trash,” said third grader Tatum. “It shows that you care about the environment.”
As part of the clean-up, the students tackled the section of highway the club has adopted. They paused the project for a group photo in front of their sign — a symbol of their ongoing commitment to making a difference.
