St. Mary Crown Point Art Students Win Big at South Shore Arts Exhibition

South Shore Arts celebrated their 50th Annual Tri-County Junior and Senior High School Exhibition which included over thirty local schools. The award ceremony took place on Sunday, May 5 at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster where St. Mary middle school student Charley Stover was awarded the prestigious Juror’s Award for her artwork titled News Travels. Also awarded was St. Mary eighth grader Grace McIntyre who took first place in the acrylic division for her original painting titled Betty. Nine St. Mary Catholic Community School students participated in this year's exhibition including Julia Andras (8), Grace McIntyre(8), Rachel Mumaugh(8), Pilar Moses(7), Lily Novina(7), Matthew Reyes(7), Sophia Scalzetti(7), Victoria Townsend(7) and Charley Stover(6). Each student submitted an original piece of art of which was judged by Amy Davis Navardauskas, Executive Director of the Art Barn School of Art in Valparaiso, IN.  “I’m so proud of our students for sharing the talents that God gave them in form of beautiful artwork,” said St. Mary’s Art teacher, Mrs. Amy Cox.
