St. Mary's Annual Food Drive Spreads God's Love at Christmas Time

There was plenty of holiday cheer spread around last week at St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point, thanks to Polar Express Day and Christmas parties and treats, but also in the mounds and mounds of food piled high in the gym hallway.

In recent years, the students at St. Mary’s have focused on donating quality food and hygiene products to those in need around the Region. The families at St. Mary Catholic Community School recently donated nearly 3,000 food and hygiene items to the food pantry at Catholic Charities in Gary and St. Mary’s own food pantry, God’s Groceries. The middle school students worked hard to gather donations and organize the food. The Student Council Officers, with the help of teachers Mr. Rossi and Mr. Nieman, created a music video to inspire students to give to those in need; https://youtu.be/K8Ch8fETUpY The video has been viewed over 600 times, and has generated close to $1,000 to be used by the St. Mary’s food pantry. Student Council officer, Selena Tran said, “It feels amazing to make such an impact on others!”
