St. Mary's Environmental Club Enjoys Beautiful Day for Hike

On Thursday, October 27th St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point's Environmental Club ventured to Cowles Bog at the Indiana Dunes. The weather was perfect: sunny and warm! The club sponsors took 35 students on a 4.5 mile hike. The young environmentalists were troopers! For nearly two hours the kids hiked up and down steep dunes to get to the lakefront. Once they reached the top of the hill and saw the Lake Michigan in all its glory, they were in awe! They saw the Chicago city skyline in the distance. It was a great day, and the kids had a blast! Fifth grader, Braelyn LaMere, said “even though it was a tough hike, I can't wait to go back and hike that trail again!”
