Viva St. Mary's! Students at Parochial School Kick Off Hispanic Heritage Month

Second graders in Mrs. Magallon’s class at St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month.  The students learned about influential Hispanic Americans that have made great achievements in The United States such as Eleen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to travel to space. Students also got to try a little sweet treat called conchas- a Mexican bread with a sugary, crunchy topping. “Boy, did they love them! They were even asking for seconds,” said Mrs. Magallon.
