A Sweet Celebration of Hispanic Heritage at St. Mary’s

September 15th marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point celebrated with sweet treats! In celebration of Mexican Independence Day, Principal Mr. Ruiz, Assistant Principal Mrs. Kozlowski, and Student Support Specialist Mrs. Wooden treated the entire school community to a special traditional Mexican dessert.

The “concha” is a traditional Mexican sweet bread (pan dulce) with a texture similar to brioche. Conchas get their name from their round shape and distinctive striped, seashell-like appearance.

The special treat was a wonderful way to celebrate Mexican culture and bring the school community together. It was a sweet way to end the school day, with plenty of smiles and sugary faces!
