St. Mary's Environmental Club Tours Newly Renovated Crown Point Park

On Wednesday, September 10th, the Environmental Club from St. Mary Catholic Community School took an exciting field trip to Sauerman Woods in Crown Point. There, they had the opportunity to meet with Jennie Burgess, the Crown Point Parks Director, and learn firsthand about the many recent upgrades to the beloved local park.

Students were thrilled to explore the new features, including volleyball and pickleball courts, a scenic pond, and a freshly paved walking path. These additions quickly became favorites among the group, who eagerly asked Ms. Burgess questions about both the current improvements and future plans for the park.

One enthusiastic third grader, Duke LaMere, shared his excitement: “Seeing the pond was the best part! I can’t wait until they fill the pond with fish, so we can come back on a fishing trip.”

The trip provided not only a fun outdoor experience but also a meaningful connection to local environmental efforts and community development. The Environmental Club left inspired and eager to return.
