Second grade students at St. Mary Catholic Community School have had the opportunity to practice reading with one of the parish’s parishioners. Multiple times each week, teachers invite parents and grandparents to come in and read with their children. Understandably, there are always students whose parents cannot attend on a particular day.
Ms. Penelope Pappas has been generously volunteering her time by coming in each week to read with students in Mr. Scoleri’s class and assist those who do not have a reading partner. She enjoys the opportunity to help students grow in their reading development, and the students are excited to have the chance to read with her.
“Penny Pappas is one of the kindest ladies I’ve ever met, always quick with a smile and willing to volunteer her time to help where needed at the parish. We’re very grateful to have her here at St. Mary’s!” said Principal Tom Ruiz.
