St. Mary School's 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament Fun

This past Friday night, St. Mary's fifth through eighth graders participated in the school’s annual “Wildcat 3 on 3” basketball tournament. The tourney was held at Andrean High School.  “It is an opportunity for the students to play basketball in a fun environment similar to the old Gus Macker tournaments without coaches or referees.  Kids aren’t used to this format, but that’s what makes it fun,” said principal Tom Ruiz who started the tourney over a decade ago.  Several St. Mary’s alumni showed up to help facilitate the games. A fun time was had by all!  In the 5th/6th grade division the “Da Boys” took first place. In our 7th/8th grade division “The Dreamerz Elite” took first place.  Team member Emmit Leader said, “We played hard and faced some good teams.  We were happy to be victorious in the end.”  The tourney was organized by physical education teacher, Mr. Mike Kosakowski who had great support from the faculty and staff that came out to help.
