St. Mary Catholic Community School recently hosted a CPR/AED and choking response class for all seventh-grade students. St. Mary parent and firefighter/paramedic Mr. Jake Gettler assisted school nurse Mrs. Patti Miskus with organizing and instructing the class.
Students completed both a written exam and a hands-on skills assessment. They did an excellent job and learned a very important, life-saving skill. They now have the knowledge and confidence to provide help until professional assistance arrives.
7th Grader, Ayumi said, “It’s a good life skill to have… it’s important to know,” and Mackenzie added that she “thinks everyone should know it.”
